The House Chèze, a family estate, was taken over by Louis Chèze in 1978. Located atop the hill in Limony County, on the right bank of the Rhône, it lies 60 km south of Lyon, in the heart of the Northern Côtes du Rhône vineyards.
“Oh, what a bold challenge these steely hills present, yet I long for such ordeals. This beautiful craft demands hard work and humility. The great terroirs reveal themselves only through man’s effort. Respecting the wine, tailoring winemaking to each parcel, and nurturing each wine style is the philosophy I live by every day.”
Louis Chèze began his venture with just one hectare of land and a few leased grapevines. Today, the estate spans 30 hectares and includes prestigious appellations such as Condrieu, Saint Joseph, and Vin de Pays.
The winery’s dedication and meticulous attention guide both vineyard management and winemaking. The vineyard is managed according to sustainable winegrowing practices, with a primary focus on respecting the grapevine.
At the Chèze estate, each vineyard is cultivated based on the specific needs of each parcel. Where slopes permit, trellising is used; on steeper slopes, grapevine stakes are employed.
